Climate - Winter is the most wonderful time of the year in Imperial Valley. No other place on earth has better weather in the wintertime. Nights are mostly in the high 40’s with days in the high 60’s to mid 70’s. And the sun shines almost every day. Outdoor recreation such as golf, tennis, dune activities ad hiking are high on the list of things to do during winter. The great weather is also why the Blue Angels, the U. S. Navy’s Flight Demonstration Team , chose the Valley’s Naval Air Facility as it’s mid-winter training ground. The only other places with comparable weather are the Palm Springs and Phoenix, Arizona, areas. And that’s because they are in the same Sonoran Desert as the Imperial Valley. But even when high summer temperatures arrive, residents find lining in Imperial Valley is pleasant due to well air conditioned homes and businesses throughout the area.
Transportation - The hub of air service is form Boley Field, the county airport, 12 miles to the South. Direct flights to Los Angeles, with connection worldwide are regularly scheduled. Union Pacific Railroad offers mainline service to Portland, St. Louis, Rock Island, Tucumcari and New Orleans for agriculture and industry. Most industrially zoned sites in Brawley offer direct rail access.
